Extreme Heat and Gender Inequality
Client: Arsht-Rock
With: Shape History
I collaborated with Shape History on this impactful project for Arsht-Rock, contributing to their report on gender inequalities exacerbated by extreme heat in Nigeria, India, and the United States. Joining mid- project, I took charge of delivering the remaining graphs, illustrations, and infographics, ensuring a seamless visual narrative. Our collective goal was to vividly emphasize the severity of extreme heat. Infusing the visuals with vibrant colours, I illustrated women in the throes of exhausting work in extreme heat. The use of deep reds and oranges not only depicted the intensity of temperature but also recreated city skylines, emphasizing the heat’s impact in each country. In one graph, resembling an ECG, we symbolized the escalating impact of extreme heat on gender inequalities, culminating in a poignant visual metaphor of a flatline. Explore the full report here.
